Using special characters in survey/file names in PCS can cause the following issues:
- In PCS Field Computer Receive, cannot check the box next to the survey name.
- Cannot send a survey to Survey Manager (you may get an error).
- Cannot sync a survey back to PCS (you may get an error).
- The survey sent to PCS Field Data Collector app doesn’t appear on the Survey List.
If you are experiencing any of these issues and your survey contains any special characters other than a period or a hyphen then the file name will need to be modified.
If the survey is already completed, transfer the completed survey files to your PC, fix the file name, and then import them into PCS with the appropriate “From Disk” option in Field Computer Receive.

| - Vertical bar or pipe
\\ - Backslash
/ - Forward slash
: - Colon
; - Semicolon
' - Single quote
" - Double quote
< - Less than
> - Greater than
, - Comma
. - Period
? - Question mark
! - Exclamation point
