If you cannot connect your Android device directly to the PC that PCS is installed on via USB, you can complete the process by copying the survey files directly to your device. This is useful if PCS is installed on a virtual desktop like Citrix, which this article will address, but the same process can be used to email surveys to and from the field technician.
In PCS Field Computer Send, use your standard procedure for the survey setup and choose the option Send Mobile To Disc. Choose the file path for the folder that is shared between the virtual machine and your local desktop and click Send.
To transfer your new survey files to your Android device, open Windows File Explorer, copy the .pss and .psh files from the folder you entered in Output File Directory and paste them to the PS folder using the file path: This PC\MS3A\Internal shared storage\Android\data\com.aiworldwide.aim\files\PS
Note: do not copy the survey file to the Completed or Archive folders
Disconnect the USB cable and check in the Periodic Survey section of PCS Field Data Collector for your survey.
To complete your survey and import it back to PCS, follow the instructions below.
In PCS FDC, navigate to the survey list in the Periodic Survey section of the FDC app, tap Options > Export. This will create a folder in Files > PS > Completed
The file with extension .psx is your complete survey.
It is advisable to copy the folder and not just the single .psx file as the folder will contain the same .psx file as well as any survey images.
Copy the survey folder back to the PC or server that PCS is installed on. If you are using PCS on a virtual desktop, you must copy it back to that PC or server.
Use the normal Field Computer Receive process with the Mobile from Disc option.
