(AI KB) Survey Probe Continuity Test

If you are experiencing problems with your survey and you are using a Survey Probe, these checks can help you identify possible issues with your Survey Probe

 

How to Test for Continuity with a Multimeter

 

To start, remove the reference cell from the probe.

1. From where the reference cell screws into the probe, to the black banana jack, should be a short.

2. To test the trigger cable, as seen on the diagram below, pins 1 and 3 should be open.  Press the red trigger button (if equipped) and it should change to a short.

3. Check for shorts to ground.  None of the following checks should yield a short, they should all be open.  Place one lead on the metal tube (lower section) and probe the black banana jack and pins 1 and 3 on the trigger cable.
