This error can occur if you're attempting to authenticate your login, but the connection request is blocked.
Please try a new network connection and try again. If this does not resolve the issue, please ensure and attempt the following steps:
- Update the app via the Google Play Store
OR
Access your settings menu:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen twice -
- Select the Cog Wheel Icon
- OR by selecting Settings from swiping up.
At the top of the page should be a search settings option, we will be returning here for a few of the steps -
- We are going to be searching and adjusting the following settings -
- Date & Time - Search "Date" in the field above, you should see a "System > Date & Time"
- While within this setting you should be able to -
- Set Network provided time (Android 11) OR Set time automatically (Android 14)
- Use Location
NOTE: Please make sure the Time zone is also correct, if it isn't, unselect "Use Location", select the correct Time zone, and re-enable the "Use Location".
- While within this setting you should be able to -
- Location - Return to search, and search "Location", you should see a
option.
- You should be able to enable to turn on "Use Location" here
- NOTE: You may see PCS Field Data Collector in recent access - If you do, we can get to permissions via the following shortcut (If you do not, proceed to permissions below) -
- Select PCS Field Data Collector in recents
- Select "See all PCS Field Data Collector permissions"
- NOTE: You may see PCS Field Data Collector in recent access - If you do, we can get to permissions via the following shortcut (If you do not, proceed to permissions below) -
- You should be able to enable to turn on "Use Location" here
- Permissions
- Return to search, and search "PCS", you should see a "PCS Field Data Collector App Info".
- This section is separated by "Allowed" and "Not allowed"
- Ensure the following options are allowed to the highest level by selecting them in this section
- Camera - Allow only while using the app
- Location - Allow only while using the app
- Nearby Devices - Allow
- Phone - Allow
- Ensure the following options are allowed to the highest level by selecting them in this section
- This section is separated by "Allowed" and "Not allowed"
- Return to search, and search "PCS", you should see a "PCS Field Data Collector App Info".
- Date & Time - Search "Date" in the field above, you should see a "System > Date & Time"
- If you are unable to login after the above, we suggest an uninstall and reinstall of the application, you can do so by completing the following:
- Backup all survey data (You may skip this step if all survey data is uploaded or you do not have any surveys currently on the tablet) -
Select the settings Cog Wheel in FDC, and then select "Disaster Recovery"
- Select "Backup", this may take a few minutes to compile all survey data, but you should be redirected to a downloads page (You can download this here if you do not have additional options as shown below).
- Select the
icon on the top left of the screen
- You should have a few options to backup the data - SD Card, or Drive
Select a location on either of the above options that you will remember to restore the survey data from (EX: Documents), rename the file by selecting the name at the bottom and selecting save.
NOTES:
- If you use the drive option, you must have the login information to the Google Account associated with the tablet in order to redownload/retrieve the data.
- You can confirm the saving of the file through the "Files" app on the tablet, just look at the location you saved the file when backup up to ensure its there.
- Select the
- From here we're going to uninstall the application -
Press and hold the FDC Application until you see "App Info"
- From here select "Uninstall" - The application should be removed from your home page once it is fully uninstalled.
- Backup all survey data (You may skip this step if all survey data is uploaded or you do not have any surveys currently on the tablet) -
- Reinstall the Application from the "Play Store" app
- Select search at the bottom of the screen, then the search field at the top "Search apps & games"
Look up "PCS"
- Select Install, and it should reappear on your home screen
- Select the app, and you should be prompted to login.
- Select search at the bottom of the screen, then the search field at the top "Search apps & games"
- If you are unable to login after the above, please try the following:
NOTE: You will need your Wi-Fi login information to attempt this step- Select your Wifi by swiping down from the top and tapping "Internet"
- Select the Cog wheel on the right side of the Connected network
- Select the 'X' Disconnect
- Once disconnected, restart the tablet by powering it off and on
- Retry logging in
- Select Internet again from swiping down, and re-log into your Wi-Fi if needed.
- Restoring Survey Data from Backup -
- Return to the PCS Field Data Collector settings and Disaster Recovery and select "Restore", you will be prompted with "Confirm data restore", select yes as there is no data associated on this new install.
Select the .ZIP file created earlier from the backup section, once successful you should receive the following message
- Close the application entirely by selecting the square icon towards the bottom of the tablet and swiping up on the screen.
- Reopen the application - All surveys should be viewable and interactable as before. If you are having issues interacting, you may need to select "Options" and then "REOPEN SURVEY".
