The following guide is to help troubleshoot connection problems between Bullhorn Tools PC and legacy Bullhorn units such as RM4014/15 and RM4150/51.
- First confirm the unit has the appropriate DC input voltage of 12VDC
- Confirm the unit is powered on by observing any LEDs on the front panel are lit.
- Confirm your USB cable supports data transfer and is in good condition (known good).
- Launch Bullhorn Tools. If you do not see the unit listed under connect to unit, you may not have the proper USB driver installed on your PC. (If it does show the unit, but will not load the settings screen, proceed to step 6)
5. To confirm whether the driver is installed, launch Device Manager on your PC while still connected to the unit and with it powered on. If the driver is not installed, the connection will appear as something other than the image below (under Ports (COM & LPT) Silicon Labs...). If it does show the connection under Ports, then the drive is installed, if it doesn't, download and install the driver from our support site found here: Support Software and Files
A successfully installed driver will display as the image below in Windows Device Manager.
6. If the unit does show up, but the settings page doesn't load, as the image below describes, try turning off the Bluetooth on your PC. Bluetooth on newer PCs can tie up the comp port the Bullhorn Tools needs to use.
If your troubleshooting passes all the steps listed above, it is most likely that the unit needs to be repaired or replaced.
